How to take part 24-25 tournament

The Vice-Chancellor's Cup (VC's Cup) is an inter-departmental tournament for all University of Kent staff. From November 2024 to September 2025 staff departments across the University compete in a series of games and activities. All departments and abilities are welcome.

Departmental teams are encouraged to participate in each event. The events are typically around one hour long and mostly take place during lunch hours.

We would love for you to join us for this years VC's Cup. With 14 events scheduled through to September 2025, there's plenty of opportunity to get involved.

Join a team

We welcome all staff to join a team. The emphasis of the tournament is on having fun and meeting other staff in a friendly environment. Experience is definitely not required!

This year 17 departments have entered into the Vice-Chancellor's Cup. If your department doesn't have a team, you have the option of joining the Vice-Chancellor's team.

Once you're part of a team, you will need to sign-up for a minimum of Kent Sport Pay to Play membership to book attendance at an event.

While most events are free to attend, some off-campus activities may be chargeable. This will be communicated in advance of the event.

Events schedule 2024 - 2025

The events

The Vice-Chancellor's Cup events are typically played once a month from November through to September.

Most events will take place between 12pm to 2pm on Tuesday and Thursday of the event week. Teams are only required to attend for one hour on each day, either 12pm to 1pm OR 1pm to 2pm. Your teams time slot will be communicated a week prior to the event.

Scoring

Teams attending each event play and earn points towards their overall VC's Cup rankings. At the end of each event, teams receive the full results and updated rankings.

Scoring per event is as follows: 1st place receives 20pts, 2nd place receives 19pts, 3rd place receives 18pts and so on.

Chips

JOKER - double your points for an event.
BENCH BOOST - recruit 1 Sports Development staff member to join your team for an event.
FREE HIT - guarantee mid-table points regardless of end result in an event.

*Only one chip can be used for an event.

**Each chip can only be used once per year.
